About Beth
A
former English and Drama teacher, I began practicing yoga at the YMCA in Wichita, Kansas, in 1999
and have been teaching since early-2003. I am certified at the 200-hour level
through the Living Yoga Program in Austin and as a
Level I and Prenatal/Postpartum yoga instructor through YogaFit.
In Wichita, I taught group classes through the YMCA and the City Parks
& Recreation Department, as well as private yoga sessions in my home or in
my clients' homes -- as many as thirteen classes per week.
I moved back to my hometown in East Texas in 2005 and was fortunate to find four lovely locations and an enthusiastic clientele
to build group classes on my own as a "nomadic" yoga teacher,
offering a variety of group classes per week, as well as private lessons. After three and a half years in the Tyler area, I have now recently moved to Allen, Texas, and am once again starting over. I have a small studio space in my house and can also come on-site to teach classes in private homes, corporate offices, or studio/fitness centers.
In my years of teaching, I have worked with complete beginners as
well as experienced yogis, athletes as well as those with various physical limitations...
often, all within the same class. When people ask me "What kind of yoga do you
teach?" I say that I offer a widely-accessible, mixed level, basic Hatha form of
yoga. My style can be described as an eclectic and practical
blend with Iyengar and Anusara influences. Through my classes, I
want my students to feel nurtured -- by me, by the yoga, by
themselves -- and to feel more physically, mentally, and emotionally
empowered to meet life as it comes. I believe that yoga should be a
joyful experience which soothes as it challenges and invigorates as
it instructs. It is my intention to share the benefits of yoga with
my students in a way which is safe, inspiring, light-hearted, and
fun.
